Sambyeolcho Park is the first park in Korea to commemorate Sambyeolcho, a special military unit during the Goryeo Dynasty that fought against the Mongol invasion in the 13th century and heightened the value of self-reliant national defense.
Located near scenic Cheomchalsan Mountain and Ullim Sanbang (Art) House, the sanctuary of Korea’s Southern Paintings, the pastoral park offers hanok (traditional Korean house) stay, leisure, and hands-on experience programs and tour and serves as an ideal place for family vacation complete with history lessons on the valor of the Sambyeolcho Army for young children and teens.

Sambyeolcho Promotion Hall
Visitors to the hall can enjoy learning about Sambyeolcho’s activities and their historical significance through exhibitions of relics excavated from Yongjangseong Fortress and Palace and 3D Auditorium.
Traditional Hanok Experience Center (Lodging)
Homestay facilities inside the beautiful park include 3 buildings and 7 rooms for experiencing the old way of life in Korea.
Namdojinseong Fortress Miniature
Under the reign of King Wonjong of the Goryeo Dynasty, General Bae Jung-son retreated to Jindo with the Sambyeolcho Army and began his anti-Mongol rebellion. Namdojinseong Fortress, where the general and his courageous army fiercely fought up to the last battle, was recreated in the form of a miniature production. Also displayed in the hall are Ganghwa Dolmen symbolizing the Sambyeolcho Army and Dolhareubang of the Jeju Special Self-governing Province.
Gungnyeodumbeong Miniature
During the war, fleeing court ladies were captured by Mongol soldiers while crossing Mangiljae Pass located between Donji-ri and Mangil-ri of Uisin-myeon. There, the ladies chose to die than lose honor by jumping into Gungnyeodumbeong Basin. The basin is also reproduced into a miniature.
Camellia Maze Garden
The maze garden tells of the love story between General Bae Jung-son and a beautiful Jindo maiden named Dongbaek (“Camellia”).
Sambyeolcho Rebellion Memorial Plaza
The grand plaza of Ullim Sambyeolcho Park functions as a popular venue for various events and a filming location.
Herb Garden
At the garden, aromatic herbs and fragrant flowers make up quite a spectacle.
Wild Flowers and Plants Botanical Garden
The garden showcases all kinds of wild flowers and plants found in Korea, offering visitors opportunities to experience the natural environment.
